Consciousness Explored

I just watched The Secret You, a free video online, that explores the nature of consciousness. For those with DID, it is possible you may find this too triggering to watch. At one point I know I would have been unable to watch. Today I found it fascinating.

Basically, consciousness is the integration of thought, and those of us with DID, did not have that integration. And in not having that integration of thought neurons, we did not have free will.

Some survivors know, and it has been proven, that the technology in the public realm now was known at least 20 years ago to the scientific underground. Knowing that, you can see in this film ways our programmers could have really messed with our brains and/or created certain types of alters.

I know virtually reality was used on me when I was younger which is an experience that feels real and could have been made traumatic. These new methods could just have easily been used for nefarious purposes.

Just another look at how we were likely "built".

Sex Crimes

Sex crimes are related to human instincts. As biological creatures, human begins have sexual drives and sexual urges. When these urges become uncontrollable, individual people are sometimes driven to acts that society does not approve of. These acts may not be criminal. But when the acts are criminal, the punishments are often very severe.
One of the most striking forms of sex crimes is prostitution. A centuries-old practice, prostitution is the selling of one's sex. Many cities have so-called "Red Light Districts" where prostitutes offer their services. When prostitutes are caught be police, they often do not face much jail time because they are seen as victims. But when clients of prostitutes (who are usually men, because prostitutes are usually women) are caught they can face severe jail time.

Sex-Teens and The UK Law

This law is for the UK only, the laws for your country may well be similar but it would be best to check first.
Contraception
Even if your under 16 (legal age for sex) your doctor can still prescribe you the pill without your parents consent, and boys can get free condoms from places like your local young persons clinics and it is legal to buy condoms under the age of 16 from supermarkets, petrol stations and vending machines. Note: These are UK laws and can vary from country to country.
Sex
The legal age that you can consent to sex is 16, but if your a girl under 16 having sex you are not commiting a criminal offence, however the person having sex with you is, even if you have given your consent. Note: These are UK laws and can vary from country to country.

Love, Sex, and The Teenage Brain

Teen romance and the possibility of sex...It is one of the trickiest and difficult topics that we, as parents, talk to our kids about. Making sure your teenager has good information and a healthy attitude about opposite sex relationships is a challenging parental responsibility. We know that our teenagers are going to parties, hanging out together, sometimes drinking and some are having sex.
According to a 2005 Statistics Canada report:
o About 12% of teens have had sexual intercourse by age 15 and by the time they reach the age of 17, 28% teens have. By age 24, 80% of young adults have had sexual intercourse.

o Of the sexually active youth between age 15 and 24, over one third of them had more than one partner in a year and 30% did not use a condom the last time they had intercourse.

Teen Sex Statistics - Do "Trendy Sexual Behaviors" Give Reason to Brag

How great is the number for those who indulge in teen sex, regardless of numeral configuration, even if that number be one, then it is a problem and more so if both parties are unaware of what can rise from having unprotected sex. The outcome can be that of falling pregnant or catching a sexually transmitted disease (STD.) Okay, getting together with the opposite sex will eventually happen at some time or other (if gay same agenda) so why not make that some time "the right time." When is the right time, this will depend on what your beliefs are as to whether 15 16 17 years is ideal for a sexual relationship. Remember it is a crime to have underage sex. If you are adamant to go ahead with coupling then at least do your homework first. You need to consider all possibilities which contribute to an unwanted pregnancy occurring or worse still catching a disease that can do more damage that you can imagine.

Juvenile Delinquency in Criminal Law

The term juvenile delinquency refers to the age group of criminals who are not adults. The overwhelming majority of legal systems in the world have special rules and regulations to deal with this group. The few exceptions are in the Middle East and in a few African countries, where kids are often tried as adults.
Some of the measures taken by most states to deal with juvenile delinquents include special detention centers and different sentences for the same crimes. The theory here is that the mind is not really developed until a person reaches at least 18, and so it is not fair to owe the rest of your life to jail time if you made a terrible decision when you were 11 years old. There are numerous theories on the causes of crime, and many of these can also be applied to the underage spectrum.

How to Prevent Juvenile Crime

When juvenile crime explodes in the community, many citizens may give up hope, thinking only in terms of their property loss of value. Some, given the possibility, may plan to leave the neighborhood in search for safer surroundings. That would be quite a pessimistic surrender.
Complaining to police and authorities for their lack of efficient prevention is missing the point. One should admit that there is a limit to what can be expected from them. There is however something else more effective to do if one happens to live in a youth crime stricken place.
One should in fact inquire what could the citizens themselves do to improve the quality of their life. Whatever the causes of juvenile delinquency that are responsible for the uncivilized behavior of those youth, it is not by repressive means alone that the problem is solved.

On Juvenile Crime, Causes, and Prevention

Juvenile crime is a blanket term that refers to any of a number of criminal acts which are perpetrated by minors. While adult crime is typically well understood from a criminal psychology perspective, the range and causes of juvenile crime are a bit more vague in terms of our understanding.
In any case, juvenile crime poses a unique threat and responsibility to society to address and prevent before it can cause devastating consequences.
Some of the most common forms of juvenile crime are vandalism, harassment, drug use and sales, as well as gang related violence and battery.
While researchers do not agree upon the causes of juvenile crime, there are a number of risk factors which are associated with statistically higher incidence and dangers for a given community of youths to engage in juvenile crime.

Risk Factors Associated With Juvenile Delinquency

Risk factors can be described as scientifically established reasons that have a strong correlation or a causal relationship to a problem. Thorough understanding of numerous factors that result in juvenile delinquency can help the society in getting solutions to deal with this problem. Some of these factors have been listed below.
Environmental level factors -- Environment or the surroundings where a child grows has a phenomenal role in influencing the behavioral patterns in children. Some environmental level factors that have been traditionally identified with violent and delinquent behavior include poverty, excessive exposure to violence and crime, high rate of unemployment and limited economic opportunities.

Juvenile Delinquency and Underage Crimes

Juvenile Delinquency in Florida
Juvenile delinquency is a sad part of the American legal system. When youth start down the wrong path it is imperative that steps are taken to get them back on track. Juvenile delinquents miss important experiences that their crime-free peers will enjoy, such as completing school in a timely manner and other staples of youth.
What leads young people to commit crimes? The most common theories are that youth commit these offenses when they are bored, and especially when they are influenced negatively by peer pressure. Some studies look to influences from their parents and older siblings as possibly influencing youth to perform illegal acts.
No matter the cause, when a youth commits a crime and is punished for it, they suffer. While almost any crime can be committed by someone underage, there are quite a few crimes that stand out as those that are most often the reason a young person is being referred to the juvenile court. These crimes are usually addressed with a service requirement, a fine, or possibly detainment within a juvenile facility.

Anarchy Is Beginning

This I'm afraid is what is brewing out in cyber space. It's been brewing. And the WikiLeaks debacle has called attention to its implications. Since most can't get more then three people to agree on anything, and lack the resources to form a sizable militia then cyber space becomes a viable option that needs no cohesive arrangement to work. And to work effectively.
What have we become in America. A nation born from tyranny only to have some 230 odd years later a Conservative supreme court rig an election. Therefore, is America in reality just a sham, that simply invaded an indigenous peoples and laid claim.

Anarchy and the Failure of Complex Systems

As crazy as the world gets some times, we have to ask ourselves are we living in anarchy. The answer is Certainly not in the definition of social human societies, but we do live within the quantum chaos, which is anything but completely structured, it is in between.
Indeed, when looking at the historical record even the most complex of governments have failed over time and "broken down" as one Swiss Intellectual recently noted in an email to the Online Think Tank. Perhaps, one could argue that in human history there has never been a human civilization that we know about that has lasted any long time period (10,000 years), yet the archeologist records seems to indicate there may have been, yet even those did not last forever, "change is constant" or so they say.

Teen Depression Therapy - Teen Help to Overcome Depression

Child and teen depression is serious and often goes untreated. Symptoms might be overlooked or minimized as part of growing up or something that will just pass away with time.
Depression has a negative impact on childrens development, school performance, and relationships. Children and adolescents with depression feel sad or hopeless. They might be angry or easily irritated. They may lose interest and enthusiasm for things they once enjoyed. They may feel bad about themselves and lack confidence. Some complain of stomach aches, headaches, or some other physical discomforts. Sometimes there are changes in their eating habits or sleeping patterns. Hopeless and suicidal thoughts can also afflict them. Major depressive disorder is the leading cause of suicide among youth. Depression in children and teens can be destructive or fatal. Untreated, it can lead to unhealthy and dysfunctional patterns of coping such as withdrawal, isolation, bullying, delinquency, drug use, promiscuity, self-injury, or self-destruction.
Up to 15% of children and adolescents have symptoms of depression at any given time, and 5% meet the criteria for major depressive disorder. Depression can be caused by hormonal changes or a chemical imbalance in the brain. It may have a genetic component, running in families for generations. It commonly occurs when triggered by stressful life events, such as a major loss or change. Losing someone to death or separation, changing homes or schools, divorce, physical or emotional abuse, teasing, bullying, rejection, and physical illness are common triggers to depression and its symptoms.
Depression is treatable. Child and teen depression therapy has been found to be effective in helping children and adolescents overcome the symptoms of depression. With counseling, children and teens soon learn that their feelings can change. There is hope for their future. Life can and will get better. They discover that there are some things they can do to better cope with the problems they encounter. The can talk about their frustration, fears, pain, and anger. Getting help at an early onset of depression or while young can help prevent future problems and foster healthy growth and development that will carry on for a lifetime.

Self Esteem and Teens

According to Young Minds in an average secondary school of 1000 pupils 100 have self harmed by the age of 16,100 will be suffering from mental health problems and experiencing significant stress, 50 pupils will be seriously depressed 20 pupils will have obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and 5-10 are likely to attempt suicide.

These statistics are quite terrifying and reveal that our modern day teens are under increased pressure and their mental health and sense of self esteem is being affected. In fact, a recent Unicef study showed UK teenagers had amongst the worst emotional health amongst high income countries in Europe. Self-esteem is all about how much people value themselves, the pride they feel in themselves, and how worthwhile they feel. Self-esteem is important because feeling good about oneself can affect how you act. An adolescent who has high self-esteem will make friends easily, is more in control of his or her behavior, and will be able to enjoy life more.

Social Impact of Morning After Pills

Morning after pills are available without a prescription to women who are 17 years of age or older. Such women can now walk into any pharmacy and simply buy the pill over-the-counter after presenting a proof of their age and paying the morning after pill price.
While some people support this move, many have serious doubts about the kind of impact it can have on the society.
